The points were shared at El Sadar as Sevilla earned a comfortable draw against Osasuna in a game that could have been won had the team been more clinical in front of goal.

Although the tie ended in a goalless draw, the line doesn’t tell the whole story after Mendilibar’s side stood up to the task in a tough away fixture. Whilst Chimy Ávila struck the post for Osasuna with the best chance of the game, Sevilla had the better of the ninety minutes overall, dominating in the latter stages of both halves. Nyland was impressive on debut between the sticks - showing good reflexes to keep out the hosts’ first chance and adding security to the back line - and Juanlu once again proved his worth on the right flank. However, the visitors ultimately lacked the killer instinct to convert the openings created by a dominant showing from right winger Lucas Ocampos.

Despite the setback of Jesús Navas's injury during the warmup, Sevilla started well at El Sadar, where the home crowd created a tense atmosphere for the visitors. Although Mojica impressed for Osasuna on the left-hand side, it was a Juanlu chance that provided the most threat in the early stages

Ocampos had the clearest chance when he almost hit the post

Osasuna did not create many chances, with their main opportunity coming five minutes before the break courtesy of some great playmaking from Mojica. The Colombian found Chimú Ávila in the centre of the penalty area, only for his teammate to blaze the ball over the bar. Sevilla dominated possession for the rest of the half but produced little in the way of clear chances. In the second half, Osasuna were more lively. Torró's shot almost hit the post, while Ávila then hit the woodwork after a great linkup with Budimir. The home side's substitutions failed to make a major impact as Sevilla remained tight at the back. The team showed plenty of promise in attack but ultimately lacked the clinical edge to secure three points.
